Don't be afraid of the dark
by Shawn Smith - April 9, 2005
Don't be afraid of the dark
Those imagined monsters dancing around in your head
And then on your bed
They cannot hurt you
Yes, they go bump in the night
And fill you with fright
Make your muscles all tight
And you reach for the light
Mommy, Mommy, come quick!
But mommy's not there
You must face them alone
But not really alone as God is always present
You become frozen with fear
They are closing in near
They whisper in your ear
You shed many a tear
But don't be afraid of the dark
When the morning comes, you will see
The monsters, they will surely flee
In fact, it is they who are afraid
Afraid of the light
That is why they only come out at night
But the morning is almost here
The night is always darkest before the first light appears
So hang on my dear
There's nothing to fear
And don't be afraid of the dark
