Over here
by Shawn Smith (May 31, 2004)
I cast my eyes heavenward
Through a thick fog I saw a most magnificent sight
The most beautiful people
A most beautiful city
Only rapturous joy was on their faces
I thought I saw them waving at me and saying: "over here, over here, join us over
here"
My heart was beating fast.
My desire to be with them was greater than anything I have ever experienced
But the fog, which grew thicker by the moment, clouded my vision.
The heavenly spectacle disappeared, but the words kept echoing in my head, "over
here, over here."
And then, at that very moment, as I glanced ahead of me, I saw a homeless man crying out
on the street "over here, over here, can someone help me over here?"
